Defective Product Claims

When you purchase a product you are within your rights to assume that the product has been through rigorous tests and is safe for public use or consumption.

A product is defective if it is not as safe as any reasonable person would expect.

You may also be entitled to claim compensation if you are injured by a service provider supplying:
  • Medical devices and pharmaceuticals
  • Food products which give rise to illness, for example CJD
  • Electrical Appliances and Equipment
  • Toys
  • Contaminated water supplies
  • Consumer products ranging from glasses to furniture
  • Hair products
Products may be faulty due to poor product design or failure to display sufficient warnings on the product. It is also possible that contamination occurred during the manufacturing process.

A manufacturer can't escape liability due to a term in the contract. It is important to keep the faulty product or photographs together with packaging, instructions and proof of purchase.
